Do not make certain assumptions ** of u and me.
When applying for work, you can assume that you will need to be given your results and impact in the positions of the current and former. Even if an organization does not systematically focus on results, it is safe to say, people in charge want good results. So they will be impressed as to show the results. Results in the previous job is the best indicator of future performance. Intuitively people look or systematic recruitment of people producing effects.
Another good suggestion is that employers look for people who have the necessary skills and culture fit. It must be demonstrated, and the two, and you can find evidence for, as in the description of the project and the Web site of the organization.
A description of the project will communicate your flat what is required and desired in terms of skills and behaviour and will have a clue for more delicate cultural norms. The Web site is the second source of information about the culture, especially basic values and behaviour.
Carefully read and take notes of all parts of the "For". Focus of the mission and all declarations for vision and values.
* Read about the background of senior management. Are they "lifers" who have worked their way into the company? This tells you the company values loyalty, commitment to the company purpose and developing staff. If people are from outside the company, or from different fields, he says, the company is open for innovation, perhaps a more results-oriented, and there is a "do whatever is necessary to achieve the objectives of the culture.
* Look at the "Careers" or "Posts" to see what are the other open. You can create a picture of the organisation, and look at the job and read some of the descriptions elsewhere. What are common elements in any description of the project? These are fundamental values or concerns of the company.
Once you know more about the company, you can use this information in two ways:
1. assessment of whether you are a good company. Fit culture tends to be a critical element in job success. More people leave jobs because of culture than anything else.
2. If you are well, build a cover letter, which refers to these concepts and keywords. Also can infuse appropriate of them in your summary.
EXAMPLE:
When I bring to city harvest, we looked for specific values and behaviour of the applicants for employment. We seek a passion for the mission, first and foremost. Had to grasp the importance of feeding hungry New Yorkers and evaluate simple genius of our method: having good food which would otherwise go to waste and its spread to the Community food programs that feed hungry men, women and children in NYC.
If your letter showed enthusiasm for our mission, then we look for the values and behaviors as beyond what is necessary for excellence, teamwork and collaboration, mutual respect, "hold" your work, you see how your position supports and makes it possible for the Mission of the Organization as a whole. The people that showed in the cover letters and resumes them were placed in "" pile and probably interviewed.
